Alternative Venues For A Funeral
Although many funerals are held in a church or the crematorium chapel you can, in fact, hold the ceremony anywhere (with the property owner’s permission) – perhaps you would like the service at home, in a village hall or even in your favourite pub.
We are pleased to be able to offer a private service chapel and function room within our Finedon office.
Private Service Chapel & Function Room
Another alternative is to hold the funeral ceremony at our premises in Finedon. Our ceremony room enables you to hold the service without the timing worries created by using a traditional crematorium chapel or church.
The room will comfortably seat 35, with room for another 10 people standing. There is also the option of on-site catering which we can organise for you, or you may provide your own.

FAQs
Below you will find a small selection of the questions we are regularly asked. Please contact us for more information.
Where shall we have the funeral service?
Although many funerals are held in a crematorium or church you can hold the ceremony anywhere you like (with the property owner’s permission). It could be at home, in the garden, our Ceremony Room, in a village hall or favourite pub or any other place you feel is appropriate for the deceased.
Do we have to have a religious minister?
No, there are other organisations available, such as Civil Funeral Celebrants and Humanist Ministers. You may also lead the funeral yourself or ask a family member or friend.
How much does a funeral cost?
Every funeral is different, so this question is difficult to answer without knowing exactly what you would like. Though the average total cost for a simple funeral in the UK is currently estimated to be around £4,417* - we are pleased to say that our prices are lower than this. However, please be advised that the cost can vary greatly depending on the location of the funeral as well as other aspects, such as transport and coffin choices. Following our funeral arrangement consultation, you will be given an estimate of the expected total cost. Please see our Cremation Packages and Funeral Costs pages on our website.

What if we don’t want a ceremony?
From time to time, we are asked whether it is possible to have a funeral without any form of ceremony or service, and the simple answer is ‘Yes’. There are many reasons why someone might choose to have no funeral service but, whatever the reason, we hope that we can help you achieve your requirements. Please ask for details of our Direct Cremation Service.
Can we carry the coffin ourselves?
It is usually possible for family or friends to bear the coffin. If required, we will give you a quick briefing, either on the day or beforehand, to ensure that all are prepared and we will be on hand to help at all times. (It should be noted that some churches/cemeteries will not allow non-professional bearers to carry on their property due to Health & Safety regulations)
Can we visit our loved one before the funeral?
Yes* - all we ask is that you make an appointment in advance so that we can ensure that a member of staff will be available.
*Chapel of Rest visits are not included in our ‘Direct Cremation’ or ‘Basic Cremation’ services
What music can we have at the service?
Nowadays it is common for people to play music of all types during a service at the crematorium – some people have used recorded music, pipers, soloists, violinists etc – the choice is entirely up to you. It should be noted, however, that some churches may prefer organ music to be played.
We hope that you have found the above to be useful- however please do not hesitate to Contact Us if you have any further questions.
